Freestanding Units and Occasional Pieces

Add storage, create a statement with bespoke freestanding furniture  

Once the bones of a room or home have been fitted it’s time to get into the details and finishing features with freestanding units, often used as display units. These freestanding items can be made as a stand-alone piece or be designed to match fitted furniture, using the same timbers, shapes and decorative details.

Our Joinery team can build a focal-point piece such as a grand office desk or table, perhaps with a matching side table or storage chest for paperwork. Once the media room, library or living room has had the bespoke fitted furniture installed, our Joiners next tasks are often making matching coffee or console tables. Fitted bedrooms often require a pair of bedside tables, bedroom chairs or perhaps an end-of-bed ottoman or chest. Upholstered occasional chairs, benches and ottomans are important components of a bedroom scheme, and our Joinery experts build individual items in a variety of solid timbers and decorative veneers.  We also design bespoke dining tables to add a statement to a dining room or to match in with existing furniture and fittings.

These individual items of furniture can be designed to continue architectural themes used elsewhere in the home, perhaps featured on a plinth or as a table or shelf edging. One of the joys of having our own Joinery team is that they can construct absolutely any item of furniture or style of architectural joinery our clients and designers wish for. Each piece will be carefully considered, built to the highest standards of craftsmanship to sit perfectly in its new home.  

Freestanding and occasional pieces can also be built to complement or co-ordinate with fabrics and paint colours, and to fit into awkward spaces. As our Joinery team have their own spray room, it means that a variety of finishes can be achieved, from a shining gloss, mirror-like finish to a tactile matt finish.

Based in North London, our workshop has a team of highly skilled craftsmen working with the latest equipment to sculpt wood, glass, marble, stone and metals, including bronze, brass, chrome and nickel, fabrics, leathers, wallpapers and other specialist finishes. We also have our own spray room which allows us to offer a spraying service in any colour or stain including gloss, matt, liquid metal, stained timber and mirror finishes.
